SLD 101 - Native Circles: It’s Your Life3 Credit(s)
Is an introduction to resources and the local Native community. With a Native perspective students learn to achieve goals, assess skills and to balance own identity with benefiting from educational or other institutions. The impact of class differences and race on personal success is examined.
Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Strengthen their academic skills and be able to articulate their personal learning preference.
- Explore and conceptualize fundamental leadership skills through an Indigenous/Native American framework.
- Connect with the local Indigenous/Native American community in order to strengthen personal identity.
- Explore and re-frame their understanding of their personal belonging within predominantly white educational institutions.
