HRTM 230 - Hotel Operations 1

This course is an introduction to the hotel industry. General principles of hotel management including the basic working knowledge of hotel departments will be covered. This course places an emphasis on Sustainable Standard Operating Procedures for the hospitality industry.

Prerequisite: CA/HRTM majors only
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student should be able to:

  1. Understand how a hotel registers guests.
  2. Identify the relationships among the hotel departments
  3. Identify the importance of food and beverage operations to hotel revenues
  4. Understand quality and the relationship to guest services, housekeeping, and food and beverage
  5. Identify the qualities of property management and how it relates to the quality of the guest experience and financial operations
